  1. Tried 2mm on AC9, RSST & AGAT2 and works well. Have 2.5 on order for AC9 & RSST since it is a bit loose in the large wick hole.

One thing is, you will go through juice faster because after a couple of inhales the wire stays hot for longer and will continue to vaporise the eliquid for a couple of seconds.

But the taste is perfect, and a gurgling genesis is a new experience.

  2. Do you see this as "the" replacement to mesh wicks? I gave up with the faffing with mesh until I played with an RSST recently.

  3. Wow, talk about timing! I just ordered some of this to try yesterday. I found it (7 x 19) on amazon for .99¢. I remembered that you were using that from your previous video. I'm glad you posted this, it confirmed what I thought would be right about torching the wick. Also I have heard some people say that you get a cleaner/easier cut using a dremel cutting wheel. I may try that first before I drag out the linemans pliers, I have cut steel cable with them in the past. Thanks again for posting, I'm really anticipating giving this a try!

    1. I received my rope a couple of days ago and I'll have to say this stuff is awesome! I ordered the 304 3/32" 7 x19 through Amazon from a place called Hanes Supply, they have all sorts of wire rope on their website, just make sure you get the stainless steel non-galvanized, non-lubricated wire rope in 302 or 304. This rope may not replace mesh but I think it may put a dent in the market. The best thing about it is the true capillary action of the material, it wicks as good as the best mesh wicks I have ever made, maybe better. You won't have to do the genesis tilt with this, it wicks great in any position, maybe too well in some. I'm using it in an original Aga-t and an Aga-t 2 and it performs wonderfully in both. Give this a try for sure, it's really worth it.

    2. I forgot to mention I cut my wire rope by first wrapping it with electrical tape and then using a cutting wheel on a dremel, it made a clean cut and was very easy to do, there was no unravelling of the wire at all. I think this is much easier than using linemans pliers or diagonal cutters. It worked well for me YMMV.

  4. Try the 1.5mm 7/19 Todd you don't have to change your resistance and does not flood so easy.
ans you can use it without the mesh, just treat it as you would mesh.
you do have to check for hotspots same as mesh.
    I got mine from http://www.gsproducts.co.uk

  5. Works well on my end to, I've also tried 2mm steel rope and adding a 3mm hollow wick "ekowool" as a sock for my steel rope, makes a perfect fit for RSST's mesh hole and wicks wonderfully, problems with hotspots or uneven wicking? try the rope & wool. (RSST - 2mm rope - 3mm ekowool) .. you need to snug rope in real carefully so your ekowool doesn't fray and torch it beforehand being a bit more stiff.

  6. On cutting this stuff. The best cutters are "V"-Jawed cable cutters, not the flat jawed ones you used in the how-to.

    Here's a picture - Like these or similar -

  8. Have you made sure that the ss rope haven't got lead in it? If it is magnetic it could have lead in it. Be careful, guys

    1. Magnetic test tells you nothing.

Heat it several times until red hot and repeat, if you want you can boil it before hand but the heating gets rid of anything I am worried about.

If you know for a fact that these cables have lead in them then some facts wouldn't go amiss :)

    2. Yea.. Sorry.. I've done some research and have fond the same things you said.

And it turns out they don't use lead in ss rope, because it wouldn't give the rope the right properties, so we're safe to use them :)

But.. ferretic steel wich could contain lead is magnetic, so I think I was right to be a bit worried ;)

    3. You needn't be worried at all Martin if you stick to Austenitic S/S Types 304L & 316L, both of which are used in the manufacture of food processing equipment. Ferritis S/S doesn't or shouldn't even enter the equation and all you are doing is needlessly scaremongering.

Todd: Having seen you struggle with your intial cutters and seeing the new ones, leads me to confirm what Mr. A. Nonymous said above with regard to a decent pair of 'V' shaped S/S wire cutters. I've just bought a pair of Sealey Wire Rope/Spring Cutters Model No. AK503 from www.S3i.co.uk, the place I sourced my rope from. You can also get them from Amazon. They give an effortless and completely frayless cut. £14 or so. ATB Scott

    5. I've been using SS rope with some Nextel xc116 over it instead if SS mesh.or in the UK I think you have ekowool. You don't get hot spots or grounding issues. Give it a try I think you'll like it.

  11. Benny, most vape stores online now stock this wire, they will have exactly what you need.
