The SIGELEI #19

Out the box, very dissapointed with this but with some tweaking it's turned into one hell of a great mod :)

    1. I gotta 2nd the grinding portion. Next time you break out the power tools, show us what'cha do =)

I got a #20 pre ordered. Appears I may be making some adjustments too, if it comes in this kinda shape. Seeing how easy you were able to get on, makes me think it may be doable. Thanks again for another amazing review!

  2. I've been sooo tempted with one of these, but from reports of intermittent firing and problems with the switch assembly I gotta admit I was put off. Seeing what can be done eases my mind... a lot.

The polishing off of the brushed finish really transforms it, but HOW did you do that part ?

All in all, another cracking review, and good to see you back posting on AAE-C again :)

    2. Watched it yesterday, stocked up with supplies on the way home.

Been polishing everything in sight, it's amazing how much dirt you can lift off :)

If it isn't screwed down its getting shiny, even the cat was looking at me a bit apprehensively.

Thanks for all the reviews and advice you do fella, head and shoulders above a lot of the others.

  3. Good to see this. Appreciate you took your time to show this turn from an unreliable piece of kit into something I might even consider myself if I feel inclined to jump to mech mods.

  6. Hi Todd

I got my 19 today. It has Sigelei stamped on the tube. Everything has gone well with the tweeks with the exception of the switch. Man alive the firing pin with the magnet feels like its welded to the switch. I've tried to cut a groove in the magnet to use a screwdriver but it hasn't gone well. Do you know if they have changed the switch so it can't be dismantled? Not sure if you had heard from others?

I love your reviews Todd. It would be much more difficult to decide on purchases without your informed opinion. Thanks to you I recently bought a Kayfun 3.1 which is every bit as good as you said.

    Cheers

    1. It's a lot stiffer on the new one, I had to cut quite a deep groove to get the screw driver in there, also clamped the switch with a cloth and a pair of pliers.

    2. Todd

I have found that if you undo the white delrin cup as far as it will go and then continue turning it with a set of pliers it grips the switch pin and unscrews it from the switch button. Having ordered a second one from Keef and tried it on that one it worked well. The delrin is tough enough to cope with the abuse and the switch will undo without much fuss. It appears that Sigelei have used some locking glue on the pin where it screws into the switch button.

Hopefully this method will help those that don't have your Dremel skills!

So - O ring in to shorten the throw, flattened the top to sit flush, all I have to do now if find out why the button tries to fry my finger by surprise??

    3. I tried that method as well mate but still wouldn't work, someone on my FB page tried the same approach and split their delrin piece so be careful :)

If the button is getting hot, you have a short someone where!!

  7. Todd,

I'm a tinkerer like yourself, and about to order the #19 as my first mechanical. I'm curious if you've gone ahead and ground the chamfer off the top so your atomizers sit flush. Post the results if you have.

    Cheers,
    Steve

  8. Hi Todd,
    I am George from Greece.
I bought the 19 and its my first mech mod. I also have a vamo.
I want to ask you a question about batteries. What do you think i should use? I am new to vaping and mods and i see on the net that mods exploding!!!
You think i must use "protected" batts or the aw "imr" with this mod?
Some people say imr, some other say "protected" with mechanichal mod because they dont get empty drained. What you say? thank you very much.

  10. Hi, I am Fulvio.
I'd like to thank you for your reviews but i'd also like to ask you for some clarifications. I did some math, trying to estimate the resistence of one magnet. I don't have this mod, thus i had to make three hypothesis:
    - the magnet is made of neodymium (electrical resistivity 643 nOhm m)
    - the radius of the magnet is 5mm
    - the lenght of the magnet is 2mm
Then, resistance equals resistivity times lenght, divided by surface:
approximately R=0,00001638 Ohm. If i'm not completely wrong, i don't understand how can you feel the difference after removing the magnet?
I apologize for my horrible english!

    2. It's me.. again :)
Well, the only explanation that i can find then is that Sigelei uses a really strange and poor kind of magnets!
